Care for Creation

"What need does the earth have of us?"
~Pope Francis,
Laudato Si’: On the Care of Our Common Home

The Care for Creation Committee works to:

  • respond collectively to God’s call to care for creation (per Catholic Social Teaching);

  • research, propose, and help implement ways for Resurrection to operate more sustainably and reduce the parish’s carbon footprint; and

  • educate the parish community and encourage all to be good stewards of the earth.

Our commitment to leading environmental stewardship efforts

at Resurrection and reducing the Parish’s carbon footprint

is formally laid out in our

Environmental Stewardship Resolution,

which was approved by the Parish Council in November 2024.

How do I prepare my items for donation?

Most items can be dropped off as is. Note the following special requests:

  • Hearing aids should be in a ziploc bag.

  • Printer cartridges should be in a ziploc or plastic bag.

  • Apple devices should have iCloud accounts removed prior to drop-off. Hard drives, sim cards, flash drives, etc. will be erased after recycling, so there’s no need to wipe them in advance.

I can't make it the day of the event, or I don't have a way to get my donations there. Do you pick up?

Members of Resurrection Parish should call the parish office at least 2 days before the event to discuss pickup options. Local pickup (within 10 miles of the B3 Recycling Solutions office on 9th St. in De Pere) by B3 is available for $60 (no matter how many or how large the items).

Bikes, eyeglasses, hearing aids, and printer cartridges can be dropped off at Resurrection throughout Lent.

Can businesses participate?

Absolutely—all are welcome!

Do I need to make a reservation?

Nope! We will take your items anytime between 9 a.m. and noon. No early or late drop-offs.

Will I have help unloading my items?

Yes, limited assistance will be available.

Will I be paid for my items?

No, sorry. Any revenue generated from recycling your items helps offset the costs of recycling items that are not economically feasible to recycle.

Meetings

We meet on the first and third Sundays of the month in the Day Chapel after the 10:30 a.m. Mass.

We’d love to have you join us—all are welcome!
